About us

A house on a quiet street, and the people who make it home

Aeternum was started by families who believed adults deserved somewhere beautiful, safe, and genuinely home-like to live, grow, and belong.

About Aeternum

A house built around every person we support

Aeternum was founded on the belief that healing happens best in places that feel safe, familiar, and genuinely welcoming. Rather than creating another institution, we created a home where individuals receive compassionate support, build meaningful relationships, and work toward greater independence in a calm residential setting.

  • Mission

To offer adults a warm, steady home in Hillsboro where daily living, growth, and independence come naturally.

  • Vision

A neighborhood where support happens in real homes — with porches, gardens, and neighbors.

  • Values

Dignity. Warmth. Honesty. Family. Independence, grown at each person's own pace.

Our story

Why families choose us

It feels like a home, because it is one

Four things shape every ordinary day for the residents of the Aeternum house.

  • A Real Home

A craftsman house on a quiet Hillsboro street — front porch, kitchen island, backyard garden, and a place at the table for everyone.

  • Support, Not Supervision

Warm, respectful help with everyday living from people who know your name, your coffee order, and what you're working toward.

  • Growth at Your Pace

Personal goals, new skills, and more independence — built one ordinary, encouraging day at a time.

  • Belonging

Shared meals, movie nights, garden mornings, and neighbors nearby. Community is the quiet ingredient in healing.

Our standards of care

The commitments behind every ordinary day

Six standards shape how we support the adults who live here — and what referral partners and families can count on.

Operated as a state-licensed residential home, with the oversight and record-keeping that comes with it.

  • 24/7 Professional Support

Awake staff around the clock, so someone is always nearby for the individuals in our care.

  • Trauma-Informed Care

Our team is trained to respond with patience and predictability, never pressure.

  • Medication Management

Storage, reminders, and documentation handled carefully alongside each person's prescribers.

  • Individual Recovery Planning

Every resident has a written plan with goals they helped set, reviewed as things change.

Everyday living

Eight things that make a day here feel good

Ordinary, on purpose. This is what daily life looks like for the adults in our care.

Unhurried Mornings

Coffee on the patio, a slow start, and a rhythm that belongs to the person living it — not to a schedule on a wall.

Home Cooking

Fresh meals planned and prepared together, eaten around one wooden table with the windows open.

Daily Living Skills

Cooking, laundry, budgeting, appointments, transit — the practical confidence that independence is built on.

Medication Support

Gentle, reliable help staying on track with medications and health routines, coordinated with each person's own providers.

Garden & Green Space

Raised beds, flowers to plant, a mossy path to walk, and Oregon trees over the back fence.

Family Welcome

Families visit, cook, celebrate birthdays, and stay part of daily life — because they always were.

Out in the Neighborhood

Trail walks, the library, the farmers market, and a bus line close enough to make the whole city reachable.

Dignity, Always

Residents, not patients. Neighbors, not cases. Everyone here is treated as an adult with a life of their own.
